February 2009
Hello everyone!
We had a great night at The Red Shed in Wakefield on the 17th January. It was fantastic to see a good packed venue for what is the usually quiet month of January. It was reminicent of those days back at The Grove, just down the road, where we used to have some excellent packed, sticky nights in the 90's. (Sadly the venue has been pulled down now) Thanks to 'The Allensmith' who opened for us and thanks also to Steve Cowan who did a fine job with front of house sound.
The good news is that we'll be back at The Red Shed on Saturday 21st February! We'll be keeping the same format as the 17th January and we will have as our special guests for the evening 'Three Sheets T' Wind', an excellent young Pontefract band reminicent of The Pogues but with a local edge. They will be launching their new CD "Tales from the West Riding" on the night so please come along and give this great young band plenty of support. Whilst we managed to find seats for most people in January, it was standing only by the end of the night, so get there early if you'd like to be sure of a good seat.
The Blackstone lineup has changed over the years but we feel its now as strong as ever and we're busy writing new material which is being slowly worked into the set. Hopefully we'll be recording again soon. Handweaver and the Factory Maid, Song for Whitby, The Ash Tree and some new medleys are all strong contenders.
